Hello,
It is a good thing, since the client caches a lot of information during a connection.
Generally the IMAP servers should disconnect the session if it is idle for more than 30 minutes, so I believe that everything is normal.
If you use a good IMAP client eg Pine, you will see sessions lasting several weeks.
