I reloaded the message.wssp file. Clear all the cache files and made sure
that all the domains were set to Basic(default).
Now it works go figure.

No, it's not that, never mind.

However, it could be that the default skin for one domain is not the same
than the other.

Check Layout in Account Defaults / Preferences for each domain, for the
server and for the cluster.
