I also get the connection closed by peer error in CGP logs when it attempts to get messages via RPOP from some hosts, especially from pop-mail.outlook.com on port 995, which stopped working on July 10 around 8:30 PM UTC and never worked again since.

However, using a secure POP client (either Thunderbird or OpenSSL s_client directly) from the same host with the same connection parameters works perfectly. And using CGP on a different server, with the same RPOP parameters fails with the same error:
23:02:00.000 2 RPOP-000004(pop-mail.outlook.com:995) polling '****@hotmail.com' for ACCOUNT(****@****.com)
23:02:00.000 4 RPOP-000004(pop-mail.outlook.com:995) resolving 'pop-mail.outlook.com:995'
23:02:00.047 4 RPOP-000004(pop-mail.outlook.com:995) connecting [0.0.0.0]:0 -> [40.97.29.226]:995
23:02:00.087 3 RPOP-000004(pop-mail.outlook.com:995) failed to establish TLS connection with pop-mail.outlook.com:995. Error Code=connection closed by peer
23:02:00.087 4 RPOP-000004(pop-mail.outlook.com:995) closing connection
I also tried the SMTPOutgoingTLSVersion 2 and 3 without result, as well as different variations of the TLS parameters in Settings/General/Other.

Using CGP 6.1.2 and 6.1.16 on Linux and Windows, same result.

I don't see how this could be anything but a bug in CGP TLS implementation.

Sir/Madam

    It is not working yet (with port 995). I provided the same settings to one account in Thunderbird and it worked.
With intra\luisgo and port 995 with POP3. The email server (from other side) is provided by MicroSoft Cloud.

But now the error is "connection closed by peer" See        http://luisgo.dyndns.org/fig/RPOP_Communigate.jpg

I tried with all the settings of "TLS" in my server (from my side, Communigate). Minimum TLS 1.0 at this moment.

I have the same settings to do RPOP to other server (no MicroSoft Cloud, "uma.pt" domain and it works)

Remember, with the same settings Thunderbird does POP3. And there are other persons doing RPOP from gmail to the same server ("utad.pt" domain) with success.

Thanks

Luis Gonçalves
