nope, not cheating, poor test :-) but with mdir:

1) there is no fs action at the close or expunge of a
folder, vs rewriting the entire (up to 2G) mbox file.

2) no duplication of indexing done in fs and cgp.

3) cleaner to backup and restore.

4) may contain more than 2G of mail

5) snapshots/rsyncs deltas contain small messages rather
than entire (up to 2G) mbox archives.

6) is slower on old filesystems with > 10k messages.
