Pronto can work over a permanent TCP connection and over HTTP. If the "Proxy Safe Mode" is used (the default for that can be set in the Domain settings, the preferred XIMSS mode == HTTP), then XIMSS sessions behave much like WebUser sessions.
Otherwise a persistent connection is used.
