There was recently some discussion on making the switch from SIMS to Postfix so some on this list are either contemplating or have done it. Maybe someone can answer these questions.

The situation
My backup MX is SIMS running in Classic on a box running OS X. The owner is considering a switch to Postfix for two reasons: for content filtering, and because many *nixy things on the box expect to be able to talk to a mail server directly. There are apparently too many to bother rewriting them to use SIMS' Submitted folder.

Can Postfix be run on a port other than 25, so as not to conflict with SIMS? (So *nixy things can send?)

Are there any free content filters for Postfix besides SpamAssassin?

Does SpamAssassin or other content filters allow end users to turn filtering on and off or is it a whole-server, all accounts filter? If users cannot turn off SpamAssassin, can the admin white-list individual accounts.
