As reported earlier, a client running Norton Antivirus 2000 has a problem resuming fetching of her email after Norton flags the virus and asks her whether to "delete" or "quarantine".

Happened again today and I caught it with POP logging set to Low Level.

I appears that she actually fetches all 37 messages waiting in her queue and then the first two messages again (It was in message #2 that Norton said the virus was.).

After the second attempt at messages one and two, it's nearly four minutes before SIMS gives up. There's nothing more from the mail client.

Any idea why the client requests messages one and two again? Since all 37 messages were retrieved, why does SIMS continue to hold onto them? Is it because the mail client never sends the DELE commands? Is it normal to collect all messages before DELE'ing any of them?

At the point where SIMS logs "Input Stream ended", this is a time-out, right?

All indications are that it's a problem at the client end, yes?

Any and all insight would be appreciated.

Here's the log file, trimmed down.
